Kite Vancouver is hiring!

Kite is a global network of student-run organizations empowering change in local communities. Originally founded at the University of Cambridge, Kite has since expanded to the University of British Columbia, the University of Oxford, PUCP Lima, the University of Dar Es Salaam and the University of Nairobi.

We are a creative and driven community of students that are brought together by a desire to run impactful development projects in our local communities. We are changing the way student volunteering is done by providing members with significant responsibility, challenges and opportunity for personal development through our various projects and activities.

We are looking for qualified students to fill the roles of Education Co-Director and Advocacy Coordinator as we continue to grow our organization and build on four projects in various stages of development. Our projects aim to meaningfully change the lives of individuals in Vancouver through impact-driven student action. Our four projects this year are: Recognation, Bump-in Bakery, Tutoring, and Advocacy.

Bumpin’ Bakery (DTES): working with the already existing program, Kite will seek to help Bump-in bakery achieve its goal of removing hunger from the downtown east side.

Tutoring: this project will take university students to low SES high school’s in Vancouver to assist in Math, Science, and English tutoring. If you’re interested in becoming a tutor, apply here

Advocacy: this portfolio will seek to advocate for important issues affecting our community through political participation.

As a member of our team, you can apply your knowledge and passion directly to projects that target issues in our city. You will:

★ Build and develop professional skills in communication, teamwork, and creative problem-solving
★ Engage and grow with a community of socially conscious students;
★ Widen your professional network and develop the skills and experience useful for a career in development;
★ Apply your academic learning to real-world problems; and
★ Challenge yourself by working on solutions to local issues that provide real impact and make a difference.

Show us what unique ideas and passions you can bring to Kite! Become an integral member of a team on campus that is working to raise the bar on the quality and impact of volunteering and development at UBC.
