Kite Vancouver is hiring!
Kite is a global network of student-run organizations empowering change in local communities. Originally founded at the University of Cambridge, Kite has since expanded to the University of British Columbia, the University of Oxford, the University of Dar Es Salaam, PUCP Lima, and the University of Nairobi.
We are a creative and driven community of students that are brought together by a desire to run impactful development projects in our local communities. We are changing the way student volunteering is done by providing members with significant responsibility, challenges and opportunity for personal development through our various projects and activities.
We are looking for qualified students to fill two Advocacy Coordinator roles and a Producer Role for Push Stories. Our projects aim to change the lives of individuals in Vancouver through student action. Our three projects this year are: Homelessness, Tutoring, and Advocacy. Push stories is running in parallel with Kite members overseeing the video series’s execution.
Homelessness (in partnership with Bumpin’ Bakery): working with the already existing program, Kite seeks to help Bumpin achieve its goal of removing hunger from the downtown east side. If you’d like to volunteer, please email Regan!
Tutoring: this project takes university students to low SES high school’s in Vancouver to assist in Math, Science, and English tutoring. Our 2019 sessions at Britannia are on Monday’s and Thursday’s from 3:00 – 6:30 pm, and at Windermere on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s 3:00 – 4:15 pm. If you’re interested in becoming a tutor, apply here.
Advocacy: this project seeks to advocate for important issues affecting our community through engaging with public policy, promoting the relevance of other project’s work and raising money for those affected by human trafficking in Vancouver. Check for updates on IG.
