Kite’s tutoring project is all about using the academic talent of UBC students to make a positive impact on Vancouver’s community. Volunteers from UBC are undergoing training to be tutors and mentors for high school students in low socioeconomic status areas of Vancouver. We offer our services to one secondary school and another school’s homework club aiming to expand the program in second semester. Volunteers provide one-on-one help in Math, English and Science to all grade levels. With one to many hours a week of personal help, we hope to see these students fulfill their potential in otherwise discouraging subjects. Our volunteers will not only be tutors, but role models and mentors for these students. These services are for students who do not have the financial means to access private tutoring. Our mission is to give high school students confidence and extra help to assist them in achieving their goals for the future.

Don’t miss out on our first ever fundraising event at the Pit this Friday, November 30th.

If you are reading this and would like to volunteer as a tutor this year, go ahead and send tutoring@kitevancouver.ca an email stating your interest, preferably with your experience-level & what times you can commit to the role!
