Lover of bluegrass, broccoli, and all things floral, Allie is a fourth year student working toward a BA in political science. Her studies focus on international conflict and the relationship between humanitarian aid and development. After a year as the Director of People and Development, she feels privileged to be able to move into the position of Executive Director and continue to work alongside such an innovative group of people.

Meet Katie - fifth year Integrated Sciences student, scrunchie enthusiast and Director of Kite's new Poverty Alleviation Project. With career interests in medicine and public health, Katie is excited to empower volunteers to listen and begin to understand the unique struggles faced by impoverished communities in Vancouver. She is continually inspired by the energy and passion brought to the table by other Kite volunteers!

Taylor is a fifth year Economics and Political Science student, interested in foreign diplomacy and the significance of of international trade, fiscal, & monetary policy within the domestic and international political economy. After being involved on the UBC campus in the past through the Arts Undergraduate Society and Political Science Students' Association, Taylor is excited to be joining Kite and taking on a new role of nonprofit work at UBC and within Vancouver. Her personal interests include hiking, eating ramen, and enjoying the beach with friends.

Her years of experience tutoring high school and elementary school students inspired her to join Kite to direct the education project. Vandita or Vans as she is known to her friends, is a fourth year student at UBC pursuing a double major in Political Science and English Literature. Vans firmly believes in the impact community based development and advocacy projects can have on a grassroots level. She also has a keen interest in gender equality and its relation to advancing economic development - specifically in South East Asia.

An avid runner and cross-country skier, Josh Tillson is in his second-year at UBC’s Sauder School of Business, studying Business and Computer Science. Passionate about mental health and community, Josh spent a significant portion of his junior and senior high school years speaking publically and organizing events to help raise awareness and reduce the stigma of mental health. Josh is excited to bring new ideas to the table, but more importantly, he is thrilled to be part of Kite’s 2019-2020 team.

Brett is a third year Commerce student specializing in Finance with hopes to work in the capital markets post graduation. He has a passion for helping others grow which led to tutoring throughout high school, university and eventually to Kite. When he’s not working Brett can often be found on the slopes in his home town of Whistler as he loves to ski!

Josh is a recent UBC graduate and the founder of Kite Vancouver. He strongly believes that youth play a pivotal role in shaping the world in which we wish to live, and created Kite to provide ambitious students with a platform to create sustainable change.

JOSHUA MORGAN

Anna is a founding member of Kite Vancouver, a member of Kite International, and a graduate from the University of British Columbia where she studied the role of institutions in economic development. She believes in Kite as an opportunity to reinforce interdisciplinary collaboration and community engagement for students in an often siloed academic environment. She is interested in the role of emerging technologies such as blockchain in international development, and is currently working as a project manager in this sector in Toronto.

Anna Hermansen

Regan currently attends the University of British Columbia, and is one of the co-founders of Bumpin Bakery. He completes administrative tasks such as donor relations, maintaining an online presence, and selecting student
representatives of the organization. As he resides in Vancouver, Regan still
attends Sunday handouts when possible and has witnessed the organization grow from humble beginnings into the operation it is today. His favourite part of Bumpin continues to be listening to, and connecting with the residents of
Vancouver’s Downtown east side at our Sunday handouts.

As a former Director of Advocacy with Kite Vancouver and initiator of the organisation’s first advocacy campaign, #HandsOnPoverty, Hayley is ecstatic to continue her involvement with Kite as a board member. She has a keen interest in working with socially minded organisations and brings a diverse range of experience in advocacy, policy and non-profit work to her role. Hayley strongly believes in the power of young people to change the status quo and make an impact in their local communities.
